How I Finally Caught Lunaris in Palworld
It was my fourth run back to the same island, and I was starting to feel a little silly. I had a backpack full of spheres, three dark-type Pals, and no Lunaris to show for it. Honestly, I thought this Pal would just be hanging around like every other rare spawn. Big mistake. Lunaris doesn't wander the map casually, and after enough wasted nights, I learned the hard way that this guy basically lives in one spot.

Lunaris is worth the trip, though. The antigravity skill alone is fantastic for getting around, and with Handiwork Lv. 3, this Pal turns your base into a crafting machine. It is a neutral element Pal, which means it doesn't look scary at first glance, but the level 32 boss version can absolutely wreck you if you walk in unprepared. No joke—my first attempt ended with me respawning across the map.
The real trick is knowing where to look. Lunaris can be found on the Sea Breeze Archipelago, an island situated southwest of Windswept Island. Instead of sailing around aimlessly like I did, use the nearby Fast Travel Point just north of the dungeon. From there, head toward the dungeon entrance slightly southwest of Alpha Gumoss at the top of the hill. Word of warning: there is a chance a Syndicate Camp will be waiting nearby, so you may need to clear that out before you can safely approach Lunaris.

Once I finally found the right dungeon, the real fight started. Since Lunaris is a level 32 boss, you cannot just waltz in with low-level Pals and expect a capture. I brought a proper squad because Neutral Element Pals are weak to Dark Element moves. There are several Dark Element Pals that work, and here is how I rank the options I actually used:
| Pal | Element | What It Does For You |
|---|---|---|
| Mau | Dark | Easy to find early, but a bit fragile in this fight. |
| Nox | Dark | A solid mid-game option with decent pressure. |
| Daedream | Dark | My favorite here—consistent dark damage and keeps the fight manageable. |
I won't pretend Mau carried me, because it didn't. Daedream was the MVP, no question. You can also use a combination of Pals if you want to rotate and keep the pressure on, but whatever you do, keep one thing in mind: do not eliminate Lunaris. If it goes down, the capture is over. I learned that the stressful way when I got a little too aggressive on my second run—man, that hurt.

After you have whittled Lunaris down, start throwing. Because this is a high-level Pal, a basic sphere is not going to cut it. The Giga Sphere is an option, but its capture chances are lower, and you might burn through a stack for nothing. A more potent sphere will make your life much easier. Once the sphere clicks, Lunaris is yours.
Since then, Lunaris has become one of my favorite base Pals. The antigravity skill is fun to use while exploring, and Handiwork Lv. 3 means I finally stopped crying over slow crafting. If you are hunting it in 2026, skip the wandering and head straight to Sea Breeze Archipelago—just bring a strong team, a good sphere, and maybe a little patience. Trust me, it beats my week of aimless island hopping.
As detailed in GamesIndustry.biz, strong player engagement often comes from clear, learnable “aspirational” goals—exactly the kind of loop created by Palworld hunts like tracking down Lunaris: you identify a fixed spawn location, prepare a counter-element squad, bring higher-tier capture gear, and convert the payoff into tangible base efficiency through skills like Handiwork. Framing the encounter this way helps explain why the Lunaris chase feels less like random luck and more like a structured mid-game progression check.
