Jormuntide Hunting Diary: Catching Palworld’s Sea Emperor in 2026
I have a confession: I did not plan to spend my evening playing tag with a giant water dragon. Yet there I was, knee-deep in Palworld’s lake country, staring at a Lv. 45 Jormuntide and pretending my plan was anything other than ‘shoot it and hope.’ In 2026, the Emperor of the Sea still rules that little corner of the map, and it still has the personality of a fire hydrant with a grudge. So if you want to catch one without donating your entire party to the local Surfent fan club, here is my highly scientific, only mildly panicked field report.

Where I Found the Big Noodle
The Jormuntide boss hangs out near the lake by the Investigator’s Fork and the Sealed Realm of the Thunder Dragon teleport waypoints. It is a Lv. 45 Water-type, and it comes with an entourage of wild Surfents that attack on sight. Wonderful. Nothing says ‘relaxing boss fight’ like a chorus line of angry pool toys. The Surfents are only around Lv. 16, though, so they are more of a nuisance than a threat. The Jormuntide is the real problem, and it is a very large, very smug problem.
I also learned that I did not need to fight it in the water. Once it slithers onto land, you can pick your moment and start the party. I recommend doing exactly that, because fighting a sea dragon in its home turf sounds like a great way to become a cautionary tale.
My Very Scientific Prep List
Before I left, I made a list. Then I ignored half of it and brought too many snacks. Do not be like me. Bring the good stuff.
| Item or Pal | Why I Brought It |
|---|---|
| ⚡ Electric Pal | Rayhound, Beakon, or Lux variants of Mossanda and Relaxaurus are excellent. They hit Water-types hard and resist water attacks. |
| 🔫 Assault Rifle | By this point, I had access to Production Assembly Lines, so I brought the rifle for reliable damage. |
| 🪄 Stun Baton | Shocking Jormuntide before throwing a sphere is a lovely little trick. |
| 🔮 Legendary Pal Sphere | Highly recommended for anything beyond Lv. 40. I unlocked the blueprint at Lv. 44. |
| 🧱 Cover | I am not proud of how much I hugged a rock, but the rock was right. |
To craft Legendary Pal Spheres, I needed Pal Metal Ingots, Carbon Fiber, Cement, and Paldium Fragments. That is a shopping list that makes my inventory weep, but it is worth it for a boss this stubborn.

The Fight: Let the Pal Do the Paperwork
Jormuntide is a Water-type, so electricity is my best friend and fire is my worst enemy. I brought a strong Electric Pal and let it do most of the heavy lifting while I took potshots from behind cover. This is not cowardice. This is tactical delegation. My Pal has claws and lightning; I have a rifle and a questionable sense of self-preservation.
I kept moving when Jormuntide lunged, avoided standing in the open like a decorative shrub, and let the Surfents be someone else’s problem. When the sea dragon looked ready to be caught, I hit it with the Stun Baton and threw my best sphere. The shock window is short, so do not waste it on a dramatic monologue.

Why I Actually Wanted This Sea Monster
Catching Jormuntide is not just about bragging rights, although I did brag to my friends. It has Lv. 4 Watering Proficiency, which makes it one of the best Pals for growing vegetables and running machines like Mills and Crushers. My base has never looked so hydrated. I also learned that you can crossbreed a Jormuntide with a Fire-type Pal to get a Jormuntide Ignis, which sounds like the universe’s way of saying ‘congratulations, now do it again.’
So yes, the Emperor of the Sea is intimidating. Yes, it looks like it could swallow my whole party and then ask for dessert. But with an Electric Pal, solid cover, a Stun Baton, and a Legendary Pal Sphere, it is absolutely catchable. Just remember: in 2026, Jormuntide still does not care about your feelings. It cares about whether you brought the right sphere. 😄
